E-Commerce: Online sales up or down?

E-Commerce: Online sales up or down?

At the moment I'm hearing mixed reports about online fashion sales, on one side i'm reading that the high street is suffering but online fashion sales are doing well, along with David Lewis and his 2.1% rise in sales this month, on the other hand i'm reading that there is a general downturn in sales due to petrol and food price increases which is causing certain medium/big fashion companies with a decent online presence to struggle to maintain or boost their sales.

I wanted to know 2 things: Which is it - a slump or happy days for online fashion e-tailors? Secondly, for those doing well, what is it they are doing to buck the slump?

I can only inform you from my agency's exposure to online but it's certainly looking positive this year for online sales (and has been positive for the past 6 months). We're seeing a general uplift in traffic across the board with only seasonal slumps. I believe it will be yet another record year for retail online.
