Do you think there is potential for a blossoming footwear business online? Shoes demand to be fitted properly before the style is approved to have a customer commit to a final purchase.
Clothing are much easier to sell as fittings may not be as demanding as footwear where clothes could be altered or worn a size smaller or larger and still look fashionable. There are a handful of well known businesses making quite a lucrative business with footwear sales online but they admittedly advised that it is not as easy as selling clothes.
Will only cheap manufactured products be the only way for now with online shopping as consumers are only willing to spend less due to customers still getting to accustomed to online shopping and their uneasiness about security issues?

Lots of potential! We've been working with Kurt Geiger online for almost a year now and their online sales are doing extremely well. Admittedly they do have a strong brand with an offline presence, but people are still buying shoes online without ever visiting their stores. If you think about it, it's simpler than buying clothes as your shoe size rarely differs from brand to brand, store to store while clothes is a minefield!
regarding "only cheap manufactured products the only way to sell online" – absolutely 1000% disagree. Please do check out a couple of our more upmarket clients:

They've been quoted as achieving sales that are higher than some of their offline stores! The web is the future, go for it!
