I met Ahlya at Store PR so she could talk to me about this covetable label. Tata-Nata is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year in style with a show at London Fashion Week in September and an invitation from Vogue to participate in London’s “Fashion Night Out”.
The label is designed by identical twins, Tamara and Natasha Surguladze whose childhood nicknames, Taka and Naka, join together to name this fascinating collection.

Taka-Nata was born in 2000 and was celebrated by Barneys in NYC dedicating a whole wall to the very first collection.

The Taka-Nata Autumn/Winter 10 Collection is inspired by the ’90’s combining glamour and grunge resulting in a chic range of looks that go from day to evening. The collection highlights include in-house designed prints, hand-beading and luxe fabrics which are Tata-Naka’s unmistakeable signature.

I was given a sneak preview of the Spring/Summer 11 collection which not only has some wonderful designs but also incredible surface interest of appliqué, hand beading and embroidery.

I know there will be those of you who are thinking - why Fashion and Cricket? Ahlya Fateh, who was the Managing Editor of Tatler for eight years before becoming the Managing Director of Tata-Nata, has recently been appointed by the ECB as a non-executive director. She has been brought in to shape the marketing of the England Women’s Cricket Team. I just loved her recent quote: “As a Pakistani, cricket is in my genes!”.
BKS: Drapers Winner for Best E-tail Innovation Girl Meets Dress www.girlmeetsdress.com now stocks hats and bags. Check out the fabulous summer collection!
