The kitchen is groaning under the weight of enough food to feed the 5000…and their relatives. The cellar has been stripped bare (it’s too dark and dank to totter down there in ones Louboutins) and the balcony looks like an advert for Ab Fab with buckets of Bolly and Stolly nestling among the cyclamens. I am finally ready for Christmas…I think!
Much of the country is under a blanket of white snow and many places are completely cut off, my heart goes out to anyone living in these conditions. However for those of us living in a snowless London we have our own cross to bear …Sale Shoppers! With sharpened elbows and determine faces and carrying mountains of carrier bags blocking every aisle on the tube and bus this bi annual species is out in force! Bargains abound and most stores have marked down already (or are in the process) so out of hibernation come the Sale Shoppers….oh deep joy and the stores are open Boxing Day!
To cheer myself up, having received a seriously nasty thwack to the thigh from a particularly determined shopper yesterday, I open up my memory to search for more Christmassy West End events.
Last year a friend and I were struggling through Regent St on the way home when we came upon this fabulous spectacle of a “collection” of Claus’s hanging off Piccadilly Circus’s Eros statue!

BKS: Each Christmas Santa’s of every description, including a very fetching Rastafarian one, descend on the West End to meet and talk about…well possibly their elf!!
With that good cheer in my heart I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my blog this year, including a big thank you to all who comment on it-it is great to know what you think!
I look forward to even more exciting posts next year and in the meantime do enjoy your festive time…I know I will!
