Fashion designer Zandra Rhodes has created a new range of handbags under a licensed agreement with Girari Design. The collection includes a variety of styles including totes, clutches, handbags, wallets and makeup bags. There are lots of prints and patterns in bold tones with rose-gold clasps, and of course lined in bright pink!
I had a chance to interview Zandra Rhodes about her collection:
What is the inspiration behind the collection?
ZR - My very special Rose printed evening jacket printed with giant deco Roses, which inspired the exquisite long narrow clutch with the rose pattern cut out and over-lyed on top of another leather. Also my signature lady’s head has been interpreted into gold embroidery onto a vibrant pink satin bag, which can be a very signature evening bag.
Where will the bags be sold?
ZR - Beales Group, Fenwicks, Independents

What is the price point?
ZR - Trade: £9-23, RRP: £27-69
How many bags are there?
ZR - 85 individual pieces
Was it the success of the M&S collaboration that inspired you to launch your handbag range?
ZR - A little but no outfit is complete without a handbag and a pair of shoes both of which Zandra Rhodes now does.

Can you tell us more about your teepee collection?
ZR - This was done for Millets of the Blacks Leisure group, using Zandra Rhodes classic Vintage imagery of feathers and cross-stitch. We also have turquoise and pink printed wellies and kagools in the range.
What’s next?
ZR - The sky’s the limit!! Always thinking up new projects. currently working on my new book about my work between 1961 and 1971 called Zandra Rhodes – Textile Revolution, Medals, Wiggles and Pop 1961-1971.
