Obviously as I got older I realised there was no such thing as Santa but still Christmas is always the biggest event on everyone’s calendar from either the giving or receiving of presents or the fact it boosts trade for millions of retailers.
We had a white Christmas this year but did Santa come to everyone’s house and how did it affect trade. It’s hard to believe that something like tiny water crystals falling from the sky can paralyse the country from people not being able to shop and the shops not having stock. Being a big internet shopper along with millions of others being house bound by the weather shouldn’t have affected my shopping – normally I just click and pay and then I track my parcels much like children can now check Santa leaving the North Pole with their presents. But suddenly everyone was told no deliveries due to the weather so besides causing panic buying in the last few days before Christmas how did this effect small companies who are pure etail?
When year on year Christmas has grown via the internet how did all the small companies cope with not being able to fulfil orders to much needed customers – how does this affect their cash flow for the coming year – I wonder how many lessons can be learnt as I don’t think to many bank managers will be playing Santa this cold January when reviewing accounts and lost trade over the snow. I think many small companies were caught unaware and held to ransom by the size of their operation so they just had to close their doors on deliveries – so will people be now looking at the back door logistics of etailing so next year Santa stops and delivers ready for Christmas. I’m still sat inside tracking orders which should have made my Christmas …….
