Over the last twelve months when I have heard lots of people speak at London Fashion Network no one has a secret formulae which makes one business work and another fail but lots do have masses in common. Usually blind faith and masses of focus and then some family and friends supporting – family and friends support is usually mentioned by most of our speakers.
They all talk of the near misses when they had a crisis, they discuss in detail about their expensive mistakes and going down blind alleys and how they nearly lost everything but then the tide turned and suddenly they had a money making business.
This month at London Fashion Network we have Sarah Curran speaking about My-Wardrobe which is a fantastic fashion website and has a huge following. Sarah had her own fashion shop in North London called Powder and she realised the future was online so went bigger and bolder and started My-Wardrobe.
Sarah is in partnership with her husband Andrew and I know her father did their books so I wonder if this was what helped her or just the fact she knew having one shop in this day and age of e-commerce was enough and decided to build a brand and not just a shop?
So if you have ever wondered what makes people take these bold steps or see it through good times and bad and carry on regardless then come along to the Sanctum Soho Hotel and ask Sarah what made her so brave or foolhardy on the 25th of May at 6.30pm.
