The launch of Lavenham

One thing that I love about being a buyer is getting the opportunity to work directly with a designer to design and create an item as an exclusive piece for the my-wardrobe.com customer.  Lavenham is a new brand for us for AW season, which has a strong heritage with its roots in Suffolk but a Japanese design team.    It was such a pleasure to work with the Lavenham team to create a special piece just for us. 

Looking through their archive, we settled on the Westley Gilet as the shape to rework for our exclusive.  It is a classic country waistcoat with suede shoulder shooting patch, which was originally created in nylon quilting.  Next we looked through their fabric archives and I saw that although they are known for their quilted nylon and waxed cottons, they also had many options of wool tweed, which they used within their collections.  This lead to incorporating a mixture of colours and patterns, which was also followed through on the lining, a colourful mixture of quilted nylon.

The style looks great work over a chunky knit cardigan and fits in well with this season’s Town and Country Outdoors trend.   Outwear is a key category for menswear and to be able to create an exclusive piece with such an exciting new brand for us was great.  I’m extremely happy with the final result and think it makes a perfect highlight to the collection on our site to celebrate the launch of the Lavenham brand for this season.
