Two years ago this month Victoria Beckham launched DVBStyle.com to coincide with the release of her now bestselling book That Extra Half An Inch.
Blogs, videos and photos of Victoria on her travels followed, and readers were able to (sort of) delve into the life of the singer turned fashion designer, as she launched her own jeans and fragrances.
Fast forward to 2008 and dvbstyle.com is a landing page with a promise of a new website to come soon – come soon it seems in the sense of most web launches which are notoriously late.
Lateness in web projects can usually be factored in to most digital business plans, but in the case of the website for Victoria Beckham's DVB brand it's nothing other than terribly unfortunate to have failed to launch during her talked about stint at New York Fashion Week.
Without a website for DVB Victoria is allowing other websites become authorities of what the brand is about, and how it is thought of.
Victoria's line of dresses were well received by the press, but type in 'dvb dresses' (a search phrase used by many, which Google actually suggests as you type DVB into Google Toolbar) and instead of official photos on the DVB website and a list of stockists, you get blogs and message boards.
Luckily most of the comments on blogs are positive, and to have people talk about it means it is making an impact, but Victoria could have more of an impact by having her own say, on her own brand, on her own website – and making sure that it is visible to anyone searching for the brand.
