Celebrities embrace ethical fashion

At Glastonbury last weekend there was only one t-shirt to be seen in.

Much loved artists and celebrities including Franz Ferdinand, Little Boots, Zane Lowe and Edith Bowman (amongst others) were all spotted backstage sporting John Peel adorned t-shirts designed by ethical brand, Komodo.

And these aren’t the only stars getting on board with ethical fashion this week…British pop/rock band, Keane announced they are collaborating with award-winning ethical brand, People Tree to produce t-shirts for their 2009 tour.

The t-shirts, will be produced in India by Assisi Garments, one of People Tree’s fair trade producer groups.

Keane’s Tom Chaplin said, “We are passionate about being as ethical as possible…so we thought it fitting to work with one of the world’s most pioneering Fair Trade fashion brands”

- Join the latest, record breaking campaign organised by Pants to Poverty, next Tuesday (7th July), 1pm at the Royal Exchange. Thousands of people from 16 different countries around the world will simultaneously stand up against poverty and un-fair trade.

Yes, they do have permission and no, you don’t have to strip to your undergarments (...that is unless you want to- scantily dressed pant wearers will be a given!) Either way, we look forward to seeing you there, clothed or unclothed...
