Is Carla Bruni the new Diana?

President Sarkozy. Who? Looking at the newspapers this morning, Sarkozy barely gets a name check despite him being on an official state visit to the UK.

All eyes are firmly on his wife Carla Bruni, the First Lady of France and her Christian Dior get ups. Bruni changed four times yesterday, opting each time for a John Galliano or Christian Dior outfit, mostly in grey.

Coming down the steps of the plane on her arrival in London yesterday, Bruni looked more like an air hostess than France's First lady. The fact she styled the grey Christian Dior belted cost with flat shoes did her no favours, and, let's face it, she still towered over Sarkozy and Duke of Edinburgh.

Perhaps the covered-up prim and proper styling was a reaction to the nude pictures of Bruni splashed all over the press yesterday but it's left us wondering where that chic Italian look Bruni sported during her engagement to Sarkozy has gone.

Is Bruni really the new Princess Diana/Jackie Kennedy in the style stakes? Click on the image below for larger versions and then vote for your favourite Bruni outfit (right) and tell us what you think of her style in the comment box.

...for want of something to write about? Honestly how do you begin to compare the two?

Carla oozed style and it was nice to see a bit of glamour in Windsor castle carried off by a clotheshorse who looks great in anything. Camilla and the queen may be immaculate, but they are hardly style icons, Carla is, but that should be where the association with Diana ends. Diana was made into what she became by the media, and hopefully we have all learned from what happened to her due to the interest of the so called media. No, not the new Diana, just a change from Posh on the covers of magazines.....and about time too. Oh and the outfits were nice, but nothing startling, its Carla thats stunning, not the wardrobe.
