Retailers will be hoping for plenty of sun to boost sales this summer

So the sun has popped out and with it the first realisation that summer might have finally arrived. But what does this mean for those all important shoppers?

It would seem that at least some retailers, such as those in Bluewater shopping centre, have reaped the benefits of the big orange orb in the sky starting to shine. This is welcome news no doubt in a year that so far has been very tough for retailers.

But a few days of sun does not equal a summer. Times are tough at the moment. The strength of the euro seems to be making tough times tougher for retailers, the credit crunch is still in the news almost daily and as a result shoppers seem to be holding back.

I am sure that retailers will want to see plenty more days of the sun - no doubt some may be hoping that summer doesn't turn out this year like it did last year with rain and poor weather ruining trading.

What are your thoughts on the current weather? Are you selling up a storm or has it made no difference? Let us know in the comments box below.
