Debenhams will discount 1000's of lines by 50% tomorrow

Debenhams will launch a half price Sale tomorrow, two weeks after Marks & Spencer kicked off the Easter discounting season.

The department store group will also unveil its first half trading performance tomorrow morning.

Compshop said that 14% of retailers were on Sale this weekend, with 18% trading combination and 68% trading prime.

Matalan has also launched a half price Sale.

Separately The Sunday Telegraph said that Debenhams chairman John Lovering was considering stepping down from his position see the weekend newspaper round up for more.

On my way to the bus stop, I saw that Kurt Geiger had the sale racks out tonight...and busy too. Who just sold it? Barclays Equity...but to who...I can't recall.

You can retail 2 ways.
1; mainly markdown events BUT the markdowns are built into the full selling price, therefore one is not as competitive during non sale events as one could be.
2; minimal markdown as your full-selling price is the correct price all the time. Markdowns are the iffy colours, awry styles and, perhaps (we don't do this though) the leftover sizes.

Head office staff should spend a month (no, not a day or a week) full on, on their shop floors...absrb the sentiment out there.
