Start date postponed for new Beales boss

Tony Brown's start date as chief executive of department store Beales has been put back to June 1.

Brown, the former retail director of Bhs, was due to start at Beales today but his joining date has been postponed because of contractual issues with Bhs.

As a result, current chief executive Allan Allkins will not retire until May 31.

Brown has worked at Bhs since 2001 and was responsible for store operations throughout the UK and Ireland. Prior to that he was operations director at Somerfield and was a regional managing director at Asda.
