The Bank of England held interest rates at 5%

The Bank of England has held interest rates at 5%.

The interest rate freeze is a blow to retailers who were hoping for a cut to stimulate consumer spending on the high street.

However the Bank of England was unlikely to cut rates because inflation is still running beyond the 2% target at 3.3%.
