Redundancies on the cards at HoF

Department store business House of Fraser has entered into consultation with staff over redundancies as part of a review to improve efficiency.

Changes have yet to be finalised but it is understood that all divisions at the head office are being looked at and that positions in buying and merchandising will be affected.

It is unclear how many jobs are under threat but it is thought to be at least 20 positions.

HoF said in a statement: "Through our ongoing strategy to improve performance, we continually review our operations across all areas of the business. As part of the review of store efficiency, House of Fraser is undertaking a consultation programme with affected staff and will provide advice and assistance for them during this period of proposed change.

"At this stage no decision has been made and we can confirm that redundancies will be kept to a minimum."

There was a rejig of head office staff soon after a Baugur-led consortium bought the business in 2006, but since then the head office team has remained relatively stable. 

House of Fraser is in line to post profits of more than £75 million this financial year.
