Barratts - final score: 23/40

Looks - 7Barratts leans heavily on young fashion this season with banana-heel peep-toe cut-out shoes, Prada-esque graduated patent sporty sandals, varnished cork bright wedges, mock croc mules and sporty wedges. Even a wall of ballerinas gets the fashion brush with lace, star print and animal fabrics and oversized gem trims. Men get traditional footwear with a healthy dose of fashion thrown in, from Dunlop Volleys on casuals through to woven leather slip-ons and a pale grey suede boat shoe. | Mix - 5Own-label fashion styles dominate with catwalk-inspired heels for young girls the prime focus of the season. Subtle changes such as the introduction of the odd floral lining in place of the original Barratts sock could be the first sign of things to come from the new management dream team. Men's is 50% formal, 20% sports casual, 20% outdoor and 10% sports. There's not much here for the over 35s though. |
Store - 4New window promos – "Happiness is new shoes with £10 off" – have the hallmarks of creative consultant Richard Wharton and are a step above previous Sale material. Love Leather PoS is a good touch too. The shop is clean and tidy but it lacks a central London wow factor. However, its staff are the best we encounter and are even more attentive than Russell & Bromley's sales assistants, which is no mean feat. | Value - 7Not far off New Look on some items – the graduated patent Prada interpretation sandal is £25, metallic inlay cork wedges are £30, big jewel flat sandals are £25. A fringed sandal beats Topshop's version on style for £40. Men have a typical Barratts two for £50 offer. Brown loafers are £45 and a black leather lace-up with a Gucci-inspired upper is £65. There is £5 off selected kid's styles. |
