Bertie - final score: 19/40
Map: Click here to find this store. Score last season: n/a Verdict: There isn't much to excite here – Bertie is losing credibility to sister retailer Nine West. | |
Looks - 5There are mushroom patent peep shoes on chunky platforms, nude patent double-ankle strap Mary Janes, grey suede bondage sandals with pink fluoro heels, electric blue suede sandals with tassle ties and multicoloured Prada-inspired pumps with heart detail. The best flats – green with pink trims and animal prints – come from ballerina brand French Sole, which is sen nowhere else on our Hit or Miss trip. | Mix - 5Casual looks dominate this store but there is a good spread between heels, wedges and flats to serve a broad range of young fashion shopppers. There are even brands like Diesel for trendy trainers where Bertie could not convincingly cut it itself. Unfortunately, the belters in terms of design are largely on bottom shelves and not given pride of place in the store. |
Store - 4The window advertises mid-season reductions but these are, in the main, relegated to two Sale racks at the back of the store. The unit is deep and narrow which makes it feel cramped. It's also a bit too blue – complement your brand's colours but don't ram them down our throats. Disappointingly, no one offers help or questions why we are circulating the store with a notebook. | Value - 5Quirky styling does not seem to have gone down well here and high-backed metallic courts are reduced from £75 to £55. Courts with a V-cut front also have £20 off and the multicoloured Prada-esque pumps are down from £60 to £40, making them more reasonable against direct competitors. In terms of full price, sporty heels are OK at £60 and yellow wedges are steep at £70, especially against the added value at River. |
