Russell & Bromley - final score: 22/40

Looks - 7All the key fashion styles are featured here thrown in with a few Euro tourist pleasers and classic men's styles for the older gentleman. Cork wedges come with peep toe or T-bar uppers, flat sandals are trimmed with outsized gems, patent T-bars get stud details and step-in platform soles while casuals come in the form of patent black ballerinas and Keds pumps. Men get brown suede desert boots and formal lace-ups with croc or ostrich finishes. Espadrilles and lazy slip-ons also feature. | Mix - 6The store is set out largely by product type with freestanding units and/or bays dedicated to wedges, patent glamour, loafers and flats and more standard courts. Men's is divided up into formals regardless of price spread, tasselled loafers and casual loafers. This makes the range easy to shop but weakens some fashion stories and let's down the overall presentation. |
Store - 3Another dinosaur from the Russell & Bromley portfolio. Windows run the full height and length of both sides of the store which means every shoe gets a show onto the street, pleasing Bond Street's European shoppers. Lifestyle graphics also feature and there are showcards stamping out Russell & Bromleys fashion credentials with its appearances in glossy magazines including Vogue, Red and (perhaps questionable) Hello. | Value - 6Russell & Bromley's customer are happy to pay through the nose for guaranteed quality. This season's styles means prices have come down considerably on some products, such as summer sandals with cork wedges at a very competitive £79. A nude patent T-bar with mirror toe trim is also reasonable at £155. Black patent pumps undercut LK Bennett at £69. Men's prices rocket from £120 for desert boots to £750 for crocodile formals – the skin commanding the price tag. |
