Schuh, 31-33 Long Row

KEY LOOKS: 6
The best spread of Dr Martens styles including floral printed 1460s meet sequined Converse, flat brogues and off the wall paisley ankle boots from Irregular Choice. Commercial fashion looks like lace peep toes and black patent get a show on own label Schuh and licensed Red or Dead brands. Men get branded formals from Ted Baker and Hudson plus 80s trainers.

MERCHANDISE MIX: 7
Knee high and calf boots dominate the women's offer and brands are given pride of place. Fashion looks on own brand are relegated to the back of the store and are mostly presented with one option rather than in trend stories. 50% of men's is trainers with a good spread of tattoo print and grafitti print canvas styles.

STORE APPEAL: 6
Not the newest store fit but this store is easy to navigate with product categories and brands defined in zones. There is a buzzy clubby atmosphere to appeal to the student market but staff are still helpful and approachable. On the downside there aren't many obvious mirrors.

VALUE FOR MONEY: 6
A brand is a brand and Schuh is faithful to the RRP's. Dr Marten leopard print boots are £69.99 while classic tall Uggs are £169.99. A Rocket Dog version of the Ugg boot serves a less affluent shopper at £64.99. Schuh still has work to do on its own brand price to quality equation. A black patent court shoe is £49.99 but doesn't feel up to competitors on production and materials.

The staff are really friendly in Schuh but sometimes they need to step back and give you space. The trainer section is good but the store looks a bit cheap, whit bad gimmicks like the giant Converse trainer.
