Topshop - final score: 30/40
Map: Click here to find this store. Score last season: 33 Verdict: The season's looks are made cool with designer collaborations and hard to find brands. | |
Looks - 8Topshop hits on all the big stories for spring with beaded tribal flats, fringed sandals, patent penny loafers, peep-toe ankle boots, clunky T-bars, Prada-style graduated patents and sporty courts with kick strips or elastic. Hanging ballerinas come in every colour and finish. Key branded looks from Ugg and Dr Martens are also here. | Mix - 8The offer is dominated by own brand casuals – formals make up around 20%. There are however sections set aside for breakthrough brands and designer tie-ups with Preen, PPQ, Finsk and rubber wedges from Melissa particularly interesting. Ugg gets a bay too. An end bay is dedicated to vintage to support Topshop Oxford Circus' unique proposition. There is a massive hanging product area for cheap ballerinas and flats. |
Store - 8Topshop's own label department kicks its concessionaires into touch. Its massive high ceilinged space dominates the Shoe Lounge and so much space means the huge offer does not overwhelm shoppers. Hanging product is a bit of a smash and grab jumble sale but that adds to the excitement in this store. Assistants offer help and advice on styles and fit too. Not bad for a clothing operator. | Value - 6Against River Island's added value designs, Topshop loses a point but prices are firmly in middle market territory. Peep-toe platform ankle boots are £95, graduated patents £55, elastic detail T-bars are £60, fringed flats are high at £40 but own label basic pumps are just £15. An electric blue suede T-bar sandal from Paco Gil is £135. |
