The EC will decide on footwear duties extension plans next week

The footwear industry will find out at midnight next Wednesday September 17 whether the European Commission plans to extend the import duties on leather footwear from China and Vietnam.

The European Commission has imposed a duty of 16.5% on imports from China and 10% on goods brought in from Vietnam for the past two years. An extension would leave the duty in place for a further 15 months.

A group of high street retailers are gearing up to send a letter to the anti-dumping committee to protest at the duties as retailer costs continue to increase.
