This trend is set to continue, particularly in the current climate of high fuel & food prices with consumers looking for the best value they can find.

I saw this myself recently when I was buying some new shoes for my daughter in a local kids footwear store. I overheard another customer on their way out of the shop, openly say after her children had tried on some shoes. "..I will see how much I can buy these for online..". Speaking to other retailers this is a common theme in the high street, with shoppers noting prices, leaving to buy online?

Independent retailers need to investment in eCommerce to retain market share and build their online store. http://ecommerce.wdsinternet.com

No surprises there really - people will still buy on the high street but the shift to online buying will continue as it's convenient with modern lifestyles.

What surprises me though is the fact that a lot of retailers still aren't taking advantage of their online channel at all or are under-investing in it. I.e., you wouldn't attempt to open a high street store in a hap-hazzard manner, online is no different.

I notice in the previous article, ASOS are going to retail independents - you would hope each of those also sold directly online otherwise it's missed opportunity.

Wouldn't you want to <a href="www.pindar.com/ecommerce" target="_blank">take advantage</a> of this channel?
