Duncumb set to exit Intimas

Intimas chief executive Carol Duncumb is planning to go back to her branded roots as she prepares to relinquish her role at the lingerie group in August.

Duncumb will leave after six years at the business, having helped drive its Lepel lingerie brand and completed the acquisition of the Charnos business in 2006. Chairman John Gibson will take on the role of executive chairman on a temporary basis.

The announcement follows a two-month strategic review. Sales at Intimas fell 8% to £19.5 million for the year to December 3, with the company reporting a pre-tax loss of £3.6m compared with a profit of £1.07m the previous year.

Duncumb said: "It was my decision to leave. I didn't want to run a public company any more and my skills lie in operating brands. You can't run a business without getting emotionally involved."
