Sainsbury's has appointed a strategy director to spearhead its next phase of growth.

Luke Jensen, a partner and head of the retail and consumer strategy practice at strategy consultancy OC&C, has been appointed to the newly created role.

He will start in April and report to chief executive Justin King. He is understood to have been appointed to explore acquisition opportunities and overseas expansion.
