Asda is to close its George standalones to focus on its out-of-town Living format.
The supermarket will close 10 George standalones and is looking to convert the Manchester shop into an Asda Living store, which sells all the supermarket's non-food offer including George and home furnishings.
A spokesman for George said: "The Living format has been stronger than the George standalone, offering better return on investment."
The supermarket is currently consulting with some 400 members of staff at the George shops and is hoping to relocate them to other Asda stores.
Asda closed its George standalone in Leeds last month.
Asda will open an additional 10 Asda Living stores this year.
