Massimo Dutti in line for latest Inditex overhaul

Inditex is set to launch a new-concept Massimo Dutti store on London's Oxford Street by the end of 2009.

Details of the format are still being finalised, but Inditex managing director for the UK and Ireland Stefano Sutter said: "We are developing Massimo Dutti. It is a constant evolution."

The store will open at the Marble Arch end of Oxford Street adjacent to an Inditex-owned Pull and Bear store, also planned for late 2009. Sutter said the group hoped to open between three and five Pull and Bear stores in the UK this year, with the first in Belfast.

Inditex opened its eighth Massimo Dutti store in the UK in London's Canary Wharf this week, with a partially updated shopfit. A spokeswoman said: "The 2,150sq ft store has been adapted with warmer colours, grey walls and black wood. The previous shopfit had a lot of chrome and glass. It remains very minimal, though."

Last week Inditex unveiled a new-look Zara on Oxford Street, which it will roll out to its other UK stores in the next few years.
Sutter added that Inditex aimed to open about 15 UK stores this year across five of its fascias, which include Zara, Zara Home, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Pull and Bear.

Sutter said the White City development in London and the Liverpool One scheme were "a must" for all five chains.

In January, Inditex reported a 19% rise in net sales to €2 billion (£1.35bn) for the first quarter of the financial year, with profits up more than a third to €200 million (£135m).
