Jon Asgeir Johannesson, Baugur executive chairman accepted the award from the Icelandic President
Baugur, the Icelandic retail investment firm, has been awarded the President of Iceland's Award for Export Achievement.
Jon Asgeir Johannesson, executive chairman of Baugur Group, accepted the award in recognition of the companies' contribution to promoting and stimulating Icelandic export.
The committee said that the award was given to Baugur for its leadership in Icelandic expansion abroad and the success the company has achieved in the field of retail.
The award was presented by the president of Iceland Olafur Grimsson and Asgeir said: "It is a huge honour to receive this impressive and beautiful award from the President."
He added: "Baugur is proud to be Icelandic and have its roots in this strong and dynamic island and I'd like to thank everyone at the group for their hard work which contributed to Baugur receiving this award."
