Footfall at the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent rose 11.1% last month helping to boost sales by 3% compared to the previous year.
The rise follows footfall increases of 6.5% and 8.1% in January and February respectively compared to last year, and is in contrast to an average drop of 3.2% across the UK.
The shopping centre singled out international brands, fast fashion retailers and lingerie brands as strong performers, as well as the centre's John Lewis department store which reported a 40% increase in sales over the Easter weekend. Sales of fashion clothing at the centre in March were up 8%, with accessories and jewellery up 17% and 20% respectively.
Bluewater general manager Andrew Parkinson said: "Bluewater has bucked the trend in the industry due to a combination of our offer and experience, an early Easter, inclement weather and a series of high profile events which have driven guest visits and spend."
