Berwin buys stake in Moss Bros

Simon Berwin, boss of menswear supplier Berwin & Berwin, has bought a 4.28% stake in the Moss Bros chain from members of the Gee family.

Berwin, who is understood to have also approached Icelandic investor Baugur to take a share of its stake following the collapsed bid, has acquired 4.28% of the family's 5% stake via a trust.

The deal follows speculation of the future of both the Gee family's and Baugur's stakes following the failure of the £40m bid.

Berwin and Berwin is a major supplier to the Moss Bros chain.

Moss Bros chairman Keith Hamill left the business last week.
