Dune has appointed John Egan, the former chief operating officer of Shoe Studio Group, as chief executive.

Egan will join Dune on September 8 and Dune owner, Daniel Rubin will become executive chairman.

Egan, who worked at footwear concession business Shoe Studio Group for eight years, will drive the expansion of Dune's concessions as well as leading an international roll out and brand building strategy. Dune currently has a handful of concessions in John Lewis and Debenhams and 42 standalone stores.

Egan has had a long career in the footwear industry. He spent 15 years at Bally managing its UK operation before relocating to Switzerland to become global sales director of the premium footwear brand. In 1999 he joined Shoe Studio Group and was part of a management buyout of the company in 2001. Egan left Shoe Studio Group in March, 18 months after the business was bought by Mosaic Fashions.

Dune chairman Daniel Rubin said: "I have known John for many years. His footwear expertise and leadership qualities will be hugely valuable to Dune during this important stage in the company's growth. I greatly look forward to working with him to continue to drive the business forward".
