Marks & Spencer slashed the price of some suits to as little as £24 as the high street price war heated up yesterday.

The price of the retailer's £49.95 machine washable suits were cut as the retailer kicked off its half price Sale yesterday.

Dresses were also selling for £9 and some men's T-shirts were £2 and Blue Harbour polos at £15.

Some discounts were as much as 60% off.

House of Fraser, John Lewis and Debenhams are offering discounts of up to 70% as businesses vie for consumers diminishing disposable income.
