TBC quiet but filled with optimism

Exhibitors and buyers were in an optimistic mood at the spring 08 edition of streetwear show To Be Confirmed in London this week, although most said the show was quieter than last year.

Many exhibitors were happy with the turnout from buyers but reported a drop in footfall. Kevin Stone, group sales and marketing director of BMB Group, which exhibited Baracuta and Gibson at the show, said: "We've seen a lot of customers but we'd always like to see more. Some brands are missing, but there's no other credible show in the UK so we'll be here next season."

Roberto Gaspari, owner of London independent Interstate, was disappointed with the turnout from exhibitors. "I suppose a lot of brands have decided not to show because the market is quite flat at the moment. I want to deliver quality product at a good price, but I don't think I will pick up anything new here."

But Lee Warraner, menswear buyer from Bolo in Hull, said the show offered fresh looks. "We'll be picking up the vintage stories for spring 08. Farah looks good," he said.
