Kurt Geiger is to launch in the Middle East

Kurt Geiger has inked a deal with Landmark Gulf Group to take the luxury footwear chain to the Middle East.

Landmark will open 30 stores across the Gulf region within the next five years. Two Kurt Geiger shops will open in Dubai in early 2008. The stores will reflect Kurt Geiger's existing standalone store design.

This is the footwear retailer's first franchise deal.

In addition to strengthening its UK operation, Kurt Geiger has focused on international expansion over the past two years. It opened a concession in Printemps in Paris in 2005 and has been rolling out footwear departments in Italian department store La Rinascente.

It already operates in branches in Milan, Padova and Cagliari and has plans for up to 17 more concessions within La Rinascente stores.

"We see the Gulf Region as a natural progression in the international growth of our business."

Kurt Geiger chief executive Neil Clifford

Kurt Geiger chief executive Neil Clifford said: "We are delighted to have signed the agreement with Landmark Gulf Group whose expertise and knowledge of the market place is unrivalled.

"As the largest retailer of luxury footwear in Europe, Kurt Geiger already trades successfully throughout the UK, Italy and Paris and we see the Gulf Region as a natural progression in the international growth of our business."

Kurt Geiger sells designer footwear labels such as Prada, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs and Chloe alongside own label product under the Kurt Geiger, KG and Carvela brands.
