Mothercare saw like-for-like sales in the UK rise 3.9% for the 13 weeks to October 13.
The parent to baby retailer said that UK sales, including sales at Early Learning Centre which it acquired in June, had risen 37.9% in the second quarter, or 2.5% on a like-for-like basis. This equated to a 1.5% comparable sales rise for the first half of the year.
The company said that its multi-channel global business continued to benefit from improvements in product, sourcing, stores and distribution. Group sales in the second quarter rose 38.3% equivalent to 5.2% on a like-for-like basis.
Chief executive Ben Gordon said: "Our multi-channel UK business has delivered a strong performance with like-for-like sales up 3.4% in the second quarter. The international franchise business is also growing rapidly with stores opened for the first time in Armenia, Belarus, Egypt, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and The Philippines in the first half, strengthening our position as a truly global parenting brand."
Mothercare will report its interim results on November 22.
