River Island voted best shop at Company Awards

River Island has been voted best shop on the high street at Company Magazine's High Street Fashion Awards, beating last year's winner Topshop.

The high street chain also picked up awards for having the best online shopping, the best bags and the best jeans at this morning's breakfast ceremony held at Harvey Nichols.

Other winners included Debenhams for best department store, George at Asda for best supermarket range, La Senza for best underwear and New Look, which stole Faith's crown to be named best footwear retailer.

More than 50,000 shoppers aged between 18 and 30 voted in stores and online, an increase of 800% on last year's 6,000 voters.

The awards are in their eighth year.
