Former Next chief executive and chairman David Jones has joined JJB Sports as non-executive director.

Jones, who was also chairman of Littlewoods Shop Direct Group, will be closely involved in the expansion of JJB's multi-channel offering through its online retailing and television shopping channels. He will also be involved in the development of a JJB mail order operation.

Roger Lane-Smith, non-executive chairman of JJB Sports said: "We are very pleased to confirm the appointment of a non-executive director with David's stature and experience. He will bring a wide knowledge of both the City and the retail sector to our board and his expertise in the development of online and mail order retailing will considerably strengthen our expansion plans for this area of the business."
