Stuart Rose and Twiggy relaunched the Pantheon store this morning

Marks & Spencer has launched its latest look at its landmark Pantheon store in London's Oxford Street.

Chief executive Stuart Rose and model Twiggy, who features in the chain's advertising campaigns, unveiled the new look store this morning.

M&S has restored the façade of the Oxford Street Grade I listed building, originally built in 1770. The store interior layout has been rejigged and the escalators have been moved to make space for a wider offer across womenswear, menswear, kidswear and lingerie. It also sells a full range of technology products including flat screen televisions and iPods.

The 75,000 sq ft store features brighter lighting, and adjusted walkways make shopper flow easier. It also has bigger fitting rooms throughout. The Pantheon shop will be the first to have a complete takeaway food offer, including hot and cold food, as well as a 120-seat café.

The new store is part of M&S's strategy to update its entire chain. To date, the retailer has modernized 70% of its stores.

Chief executive Stuart Rose said: "The new store is fantastic. We've had an average uplift of around 7% on the stores we've refitted so far. But it's not about sales uplift it's about making a statement about the brand. Shoppers will now have another great M&S store."
