BMB Group chairman and chief executive Peter Lucas is being lined up as the next chairman of the British Clothing Industry Association.

Lucas has been proposed as successor to current chairman James McAdam, who will stand down in May at the BCIA annual general meeting.
Lucas is taking steps to end his existing role as chairman of UK Fashion Exports in preparation for the BCIA role and will take over as chairman of the BCIA when the process is complete.

Michelsons chairman and chief executive John Miln will become deputy chairman and will act as BCIA interim chairman until Lucas takes over.

Meanwhile, BCIA director John Wilson will remain in his current post until at least June 2010.

Lucas has been a vicechairman of BCIA since 1998 and has served on the executive council since 1986. He has been chairman of UKFE since 2004. Miln has been vice-chairman of the BCIA since 2005 and has been a member of the executive council since 2001. He has also been chairman of the Guild of British Tie Makers since 2004.

UKFE said Colin Evans would stand in for Lucas where necessary. Evans will also chair the committee to appoint Lucas's successor.
