IC Companys, owner of Danish brands InWear and Matinique, will pursue a new concessions and franchise strategy for the UK following the appointment of Peter Andersen as head of the UK business.
Andersen will take on the role of country manager for the UK and Republic of Ireland. The role has been vacant since the departure of Frances Card, who left earlier this year after a difference of opinion over strategy (Drapers, February 17).
Andersen joins from B Young, where he was UK country manager for the B Young and Ichi labels. The brand has yet to appoint a replacement.
He will take up the position on August 1 and will represent all six of IC Companys' brands in the UK and RoI, including InWear, Matinique, Part Two, Cottonfield, Jackpot and Soaked in Luxury.
"We'll look at developing the business and are aiming to find new accounts in independents, department stores, concessions and franchises," he said.
Heading a 34-strong team, Andersen will report to IC Companys international sales director Henrik la Cour, based at its HQ in Denmark.
IC Companys had a handful of InWear and Jackpot franchises in the UK until 2005. InWear plans to open standalone accessories stores next year, potentially in the UK and other overseas locations, to build on its 100-strong global portfolio.
