Sales at Spanish fashion giant Inditex rocketed 19% to €4.12 billion (£2.88bn) for the six months to July 31, with net income up to €393 million (£272.3m).

Like-for-like sales rose 7%, compared with a 5% increase in the first half last year. Overall sales growth was attributed to 205 store openings during the period. Separately, Inditex chain Zara was forced to pull a handbag featuring a swastika sign from UK stores this week after customers complained.
