The number of visitors to the first day of the Bread & Butter exhibition in Barcelona yesterday was up 23% compared with last January's show.
A total of 33,061 visitors attended, with a healthy turnout of UK buyers. The likes of USC, Republic and Asos were present, along with indies such as Per Lui and Phlip.
Most were in a positive mood despite tough trading over the last year, with many keen to pick up some new labels.
Coloured denim, wet look fabrics and check shirts were popular themes, along with purple.
Asos menswear buyer Paul Drew said: "The show's looking really good and it's difficult to get enough time to see everything."
The event is Bread & Butter's biggest show so far with 150 new exhibitors, making a total of 1,000 brands.
International visitors made up 67% of the total on the first day. Show organiser Karl-Heinz Muller said: "I think that we are the most international event in the industry."
He also quashed speculation that the show was moving out of Barcelona. "We intend to stay in Barcelona, we feel very comfortable here. But we also want to change and move forward, so we will try to expand the whole trade fair area," he said.
