Designer independent Start has opened its third store and launched a men's own label called Mr Start.
The 1,500sq ft store – the retailer's third on Rivington Street in Shoreditch, east London – is the only shop to sell men's tailoring collection Mr Start, which includes off-the-peg and made-to-measure suits and a range of shirts.Mr Start makes up about half of the in-store offer, with the remainder comprising brands including Balenciaga and Jil Sander. Suit prices range from £500 to £750, with made-to-measure suits starting at £750.
Owner Philip Start, founder of menswear chain Woodhouse, said he may consider launching Mr Start shop-in-shops in department stores. "Shop-in-shops are a possibility in the future," he said. "We've always wanted our own brand and we make more money from it too." He added that he opened the third store on Rivington Street to retain the retailer's destination status. "We don't want lots of branches and being on Rivington Street has worked well," he said.
Start's other two Rivington Street stores are a womenswear shop and a menswear store.
