Oliver Sweeney launches footwear amnesty

Luxury men's footwear brand Oliver Sweeney is calling on customers to donate old shoes to raise cash  for Third World development.

Customers can bring any brand of footwear to Oliver Sweeney standalone stores in London and Leeds and the brand will collect them for charity Green World Recycling, which will then take the footwear  back to one of its 600 clothing banks to be resold in the UK and Europe.

Money raised will then go to under-developed countries to help improve conditions in village schools, redevelop irrigation systems and set up agricultural training schemes.

Oliver Sweeney marketing manager Charley Sowden said: "Our shoes are built to last so we are not expecting many to be donated back to us for the shoe amnesty. But we will be welcoming all shoes to be dropped off at our stores. We are really proud to be offering some help to communities in need by reinforcing the recycling mentality and improving impoverished areas directly."
