Harrods to revamp menswear offer

Luxury department store Harrods will introduce a swathe of new brands when it revamps its menswear department in the autumn.

Tailoring and casualwear brands Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Giorgio Armani Black Label and Louis Vuitton's ready-to-wear menswear will be exclusive to the store in the UK. Loro Piana, Kitson and Bespoken will also be introduced.

The revamp will kick off with the refurbishment of the tailoring section on the ground floor in November. Shop-in-shop fits previously used in the tailoring department will be axed in favour of a generic Harrods shopfit.

Designer menswear brands, including Prada and Gucci, which are currently on the lower ground floor, will move to the ground floor. Smaller categories such as shirting, ties and accessories from brands such as Eton, Etro and Van Laack will move from the ground floor to the lower ground floor as part of the overhaul.

Torly Grimshawe, general merchandise manager for menswear, said: "This refurbishment will create an environment which complements the array of luxury menswear brands that we offer. The redevelopment will elevate menswear at Harrods, establishing it as the pinnacle of luxury in the men's environment."

The London Knightsbridge store restructured its menswear team in October after general merchandise manager Peter Nyhan and menswear buying controller Carsten Skovgaard left the business. Grimshawe, who was previously womenswear concessions manager, took over responsibility for menswear.
