Selfridges has promoted Anita Barr to the role of director of womenswear and childrenswear following the departure of Anna Garner earlier this year.
Barr has worked at the department store business for eight years, most recently as men's contemporary and designer wear buying manager. She played a leading role in the development of Selfridges' menswear business, reporting to David Walker-Smith, director of menswear and beauty.
She has been charged with growing the womenswear and kidswear offer at Selfridges stores – in which the fashion offer encompasses clothing from high street retailers such as Topshop and All Saints as well as designer brands including Balmain and Givenchy – on both a bought-in and on a concession basis.
Barr replaces Garner, who left earlier this year after four years at the business.
Director of women's accessories Sebastian Manes has also added lingerie and swimwear to his remit.
Both Manes and Barr will report to Selfridges' buying and merchandising director Anne Pitcher.
Pitcher said: "We are always keen to develop and reward great talent."
