River Island to sponsor fashion auction

Young fashion retailer River Island is to sponsor the first Heart & Design charity auction which will feature specially commissioned works from Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs.

The event, will showcase one-off pieces from a selection of the world's top designers at Christie's from September 13 to 15, when they will be auctioned.

The event has been scheduled to coincide with both London Fashion Week and London Design Week to draw maximum support, and designs from the likes of Alber Elbaz, Alice Temperley, Emilio Pucci and Giles Deacon will also feature.

The Heart & Design auction is in support of heart and lung disease charity Royal Brompton & Harefield Charitable fund.
