The Mail on Sunday reported that JJB Sports has met with suppliers to stop orders for stock that it has already placed. Buyers from the retailer has told brands including Reebok and Adidas that it is cutting back as it pushes to sell more own-brand product.
Sainsbury's is set to report that first half sales will be up 8% on Wednesday, according to The Sunday Express. Like-for-like sales will be up between 3.5% and 4%.
On Saturday The Independent wrote that a raft of trading updates from retailers including JJB Sports, Marks & Spencer, Woolworths and Blacks Leisure had reinforced fears that the high street was heading for the worst Christmas in 30 years.
