Exclusive: Jackson launches own streetwear brand

Young fashion supplier Jackson Distribution has launched its own streetwear brand after securing a £1.6m finance facility from HSBC.

The company distributes pop star Avril Lavigne’s fashion brand Abbey Dawn and young fashion brand Iron Fist’s clothing, footwear and accessories, but for spring 13 it has created its own brand called Brakeburn.

The streetwear brand is aimed at men and women aged 16 to 35 and offers clothing, footwear and accessories influenced by street culture, cycling and boardsports. Spring 13 pieces include graphic T-shirts, dresses and outerwear.

To establish Brakeburn, Jackson Distribution plans to use the network of UK and European retailers it has built relationships with through Abbey Dawn and Iron Fist, which include etailer Very, Beales department stores, and footwear chains Sole Trader and Schuh.

Finance director Chris Sheath said the team had been “pleasantly surprised” at the interest from retailers.

Brand manager Joe Harrison said Brakeburn complements the other brands in Jackson’s portfolio.

He added: “On women’s we’ll sit alongside Joules and on men’s we’ll sit with surfwear such as Quiksilver and brands including Superdry.”

Wholesale prices range from £8.33 to £30.
