The British Fashion Council (BFC) last night revealed the shortlist of nominees for the awards, which will take place on November 27, recognising the most influential people in the fashion industry.

Kane, Katrantzou and McCartney are vying for the ultimate accolade of the night, and will be judged on excellence and how they made an impact on the international stage over the past year.

Menswear designers Kim Jones for Louis Vuitton, Oliver Spencer and Richard James are up for the menswear designer award while Katie Hillier, Nicholas Kirkwood and Philip Treacy are nominated for the accessories designer gong.

J.W. Anderson, Michael van der Ham and Simone Rocha have been shortlisted for the emerging talent award under the ready-to-wear category. For the emerging talent in accessories Dominic Jones, Jordan Askill and Sophie Hulme have been nominated. Jonathan Saunders has made the shortlist for emerging talent in menswear alongside Agi & Sam and Lou Dalton.

Erdem, Jonathan Saunders and Meadham Kirchhoff have been nominated for the new establishment award, which recognises a particular movement in British fashion that is taking the industry by storm.

Harold Tillman, chairman of the BFC, said: “2012 has been a momentous year and seen a nationwide celebration of British talent. The British Fashion Awards recognise and celebrate the exceptional individuals and brands who’ve defined our fashion industry over the past year and we’re incredibly proud to announce these nominees who represent a cross section of British fashion talent.”
